Missouri (25-18, 8-8) defeated Texas A&M (25-19, 3-13) 4-3 after a homerun by senior Kolby Romaine put the Tigers ahead in the sixth to help seal the Missouri victory.

Senior Madi Norman weaved in and out of jams all night. She allowed the leadoff player to reach in the first four innings, but kept the Tigers in it by only allowing one run during that span.

“Usually, there’s a big percentage of people that when they get on base first, they’re gonna score,” junior Eli Daniel said. “So to get those three outs were a huge deal.”

That run came in the fourth inning when junior Payton McBride gave the Aggies the lead on a solo home run to right field.

The Tigers would respond in the bottom of the fourth. Sophomore Kim Wert hit a one out single and sophomore Kara Decker followed with a double to left-center. With two outs, redshirt freshman Kendyll Bailey roped a single that drove in two.

“I knew I had to be aggressive,” Bailey said. “I had to come up with a big hit to keep the momentum going and put some runs on the board.”

Freshman Jazmyn Rollin, who earlier in the day was named a finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year award, later drove in senior Regan Nash on a double in the bottom of the fifth.

Norman ran into some trouble in the top of the sixth when she allowed a two run homer to even the game. She finished out the inning, limiting the damage and keeping the score knotted at three.

In the bottom of the inning, Romaine hit a line-drive just over the left field wall to put the Tigers ahead 4-3.

Daniel slammed the door in the seventh, pitching a one-two-three inning and picking up her sixth save of the year. Daniel currently leads all SEC pitchers and is third in the nation in saves with six.

“My job was to shut them down and get out of that inning,” Daniel said. “I have confidence in my pitches so I just knew that I had to hit my spots and get out of there.”
