Missouri volleyball (9-3, 1-1 SEC) bounced back from three losses last weekend and picked up its first SEC win against Louisiana State University (8-5, 2-1 SEC) in Baton Rouge Wednesday.

Missouri topped LSU in four sets 25-10, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18, winning the match 3-1 to break its three-match losing streak.

The match saw the visiting Tigers posting 56 kills against LSU’s 47 with Missouri junior Kylie Deberg once again leading the offense with 20 kills and 3 blocks. Redshirt sophomore Kayla Caffey recorded a .600 hitting average and a career-high 11 kills and junior Tyanna Omazic also contributed 10 kills of her own.

The Missouri defense was led by freshman Leandra Mangual-Duran who contributed 14 digs throughout the match, making this the sixth match where she has totaled 10 or more digs. Junior Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana also stepped up for the Missouri defense posting her third double-digit dig match this year with 10 against LSU.

Redshirt sophomore setter Andrea Fuentes also totaled 44 assists with a total of three kills and digs each throughout the match.

“Tonight was big, as we needed to get back on track following a tough recent stretch,” coach Joshua Taylor said. “We had a lot of different people step up tonight in all facets of the game.”

Missouri returns home to the Hearnes Center this Sunday, Oct. 6 when they take on Texas A&M (9-3, 1-1 SEC) at 1 p.m CDT.
