Rogers, Broemmel headline Tigers top performers
Missouri cross country continued its strong season at the Crimson Classic in the team’s final regular season meet of the year. The Tigers showed out against their conference opponents, as both the men’s and women’s teams finished runner-up to host Alabama.
For the men, Drew Rogers led the way, finishing at No. 5 in the men’s 8,078-meter race. Rogers finished with a time of 23:26.8, his new personal best.
Other standouts included Ryder James, who placed shortly behind Rogers at No. 8 overall, with a time of 23:36.8. Senior Blake Morris wrapped up the top three Tigers, placing No. 12 overall and crossing the finish line at 23:50.4.
For the women, Rahel Broemmel led the way, finishing at No. 9 overall in the women’s 5,926-meter race. This marked the fourth consecutive week Broemmel has led the team in placement.
Senior Nicole Louw and freshman Natalie Barnard finished right next to each other at No. 21 and No. 22, respectively. Freshman Charlotte Cullen rounded out the top 25 after rising seven spots in the final 1,926-meter.
The Tigers were able to sustain such team success with their overall performances. While they only had three top ten individual performances, only two of the 20 runners finished in the bottom half of either race.
On Nov. 1 the Tigers will travel to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships. The meet will be hosted by the Texas A&M Aggies.
