Cierra Harrison racks up five strikeouts and gets back in the win column against Drake before heading home for a series with No. 9 Florida

Missouri softball traveled to Iowa for a quick road trip against Drake on April 10. The Tigers won 6-3 and coach Larissa Anderson picked up her 200th career win as Missouri’s head coach. Missouri got a much needed win after losing the series to Arkansas last weekend, as sophomore pitcher Cierra Harrison bounced back from her last outing.

Harrison got the start for Missouri and threw 4.2 innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Harrison picked up her 11th win of the season, while adding five strikeouts to her season total. Sophomore Lilly Whitten relieved Harrison in the bottom of the fifth and tossed one inning, allowing no runs. Sophomore Taylor Pannell came in to finish the game, replacing Whitten. Pannell threw 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits. The sophomore registered the save, her seventh of the season.

Freshman Stefania Abruscato started at catcher and made the most of her playing time, going 3-4 with one home run and three RBIs. Seniors Alex Honnold and Maddie Gallagher both contributed one RBI each. Honnold’s RBI came on a single through the right side and Gallagher’s came on a double, scoring Honnold in the fourth inning. Both of these runs came right after Abruscato’s home run. Abruscato also scored the final two runs on a single to left center during the seventh inning.

The first run of the game was also driven in after Honnold put a ball in play, but Honnold was not credited with another RBI because Drake made an error.

The Tigers will return home to defend their home field against the No. 9 Florida Gators. It will be a battle of top-15 teams in Columbia; the second of the season.
