KU outlasts Tigers 79-74

Two late three-pointers by Kansas' Aaron Miles and Kirk Hinrich helped the Jayhawks defeat the men's basketball team 79-74 Sunday afternoon.

MU (18-9, 9-7 Big 12) led 74-71 with 1:56 left when Miles hit a three with no time left on the shot clock. After junior wing Rickey Paulding came down and missed a jump shot, the Jayhawks came down and Hinrich hit a three-pointer from near half court to put KU up 77-74.

After a timeout, Paulding took the inbound pass and missed a three-pointer. The Jayhawks made two free throws at the end of the game to secure a five-point victory.

Paulding and junior point guard Ricky Clemons led the Tigers with 21 points each. Junior big men Travon Bryant and Arthur Johnson scored 13 and 11, respectively.

Seniors Nick Collison and Hinrich led KU with 20 points each.

The Tigers' next game will be in the Big 12 tournament when they face last place Nebraska at 2:20 Thursday in Dallas.
