Missouri Tigers women’s basketball defeated Arkansas 87-82 on the road Feb. 5, marking their third straight victory in Southeastern Conference play. The streak is Missouri’s longest since Jan. 5, 2023.
The junior guard duo of Grace Slaughter and Shannon Dowell combined for 49 points to sweep the season series against the Razorbacks. With the win, the Tigers advance to 16-9 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Dowell scored a team-high 25 points, shooting 9-for-15 from the field and 4-for-7 from three. Slaughter played all 40 minutes, adding 24 points while shooting 10-for-17 from the field.
Unlike the first 94-69 Missouri victory against Arkansas, this contest was back and forth, evident by 11 lead changes.
The Tigers trailed 19-22 after a quarter of action and held a narrow two-point lead entering the final frame. After an Arkansas jumper put the Razorbacks within two of Missouri with 2:57 left in the game, the Tigers held Arkansas to 1-for-9 shooting to secure the victory.
Slaughter and Dowell combined for 15 of Missouri’s 21 fourth quarter points. Junior guard Abbey Schreacke added four points in the period and 17 points in the game, shooting 6-for-11 from the field.
Missouri earned the win without senior forward Jordana Reisma for the first time this season. Sophomore guard Chloe Sotell picked up the rebounding slack, ending the night with a team-leading 10 rebounds to accompany her team-high five assists.
Senior guard Saniah Tyler was a spark plug off the bench, adding eight points for Missouri on 2-for-3 shooting from deep.
The Tigers as a whole shot 50.8% from the field and 37.5% from three compared to Arkansas’ 40.3% field goal shooting and 32.6% three-point shooting.
Missouri looks to build its conference win streak Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. against the Georgia Bulldogs (18-5, 4-5 SEC) at Mizzou Arena.
