The 2026 True/False Film Fest opened Thursday night with The Jubilee. The party was filled with extravagant costumes, flavorful bites and bluegrass music. While donning masks, attendees spent time meeting old and new friends.

“I have been coming since the first festival,” said Vicky Wilson, the mother of T/F co-founder David Wilson. “In fact, the T-shirt I’m wearing is the first festival T-shirt from 2004. It seemed appropriate because this year’s theme is “you are here.” And after 23 years, I am still here,”

The Jubilee marked the start of a weekend filled with documentaries, performances and events across Columbia. Beneath masks and colored lights, festgoers continued to reconnect the first night of the fest. The opening party served as a reminder that True/False is more than a film fest; it’s a tradition many people return to year after year.
