**UPDATE**: _At 8:20 p.m., MU Alert reported that the material in question was water overflowing from a container and Laffere Hall has been cleared for use.
Officials evacuated Lafferre Hall as a precaution Jan. 20 to investigate “a potential hazardous material spill,” according to MU Alert’s website. No injuries were reported.
Ten units were dispatched to 416 Sixth St. at 7:20 p.m. MU Alert posted about the incident at 7:50 p.m.
“Safety is the university’s top priority and we are working hard to assure that the campus remains safe while information is obtained and confirmed,” the alert stated.

Officials from the Columbia Fire Department could not immediately be reached for comment.
