‘St. Louis has the Tigers’: How Missouri football used ‘hometown’ environment to remain perfect

Dear readers,

How do you define “home?”

As editors of The Maneater’s MOVE section for the 2023-2024 academic year, we are thrilled to present MOVE Magazine: Home Away From Home — a digital collection of stories centered around the Columbia experience. It is an exploration of the essence of “home” as told through the diverse perspectives of our community.

The stories you’ll find in this year’s edition of The Maneater’s digital arts and culture magazine are meant to celebrate the many aspects that make Columbia home, and reflect on the progress we have yet to make. It’s time we, as MU students, acknowledge the depth of our experience defining a home.

The writers of this year’s magazine have delved into the experiences of Columbia’s unsheltered community, highlighted restaurant owners who have rooted aspects of their culture into the city’s culinary scene and featured the animals who are pillars of MU’s campus.

This edition of MOVE Magazine would not be possible without the immense efforts of the entire Maneater staff, and we are especially grateful and proud of the MOVE section for undertaking this project with us. We would also like to thank all of our readers for their continued support of student media, without which none of what we do would be possible.

We hope this year’s edition of MOVE Magazine helps you reflect on what home means to you, and we hope the legacy of this publication continues to encourage meaningful reporting that betters our community.

Sincerely,

Annie Goldman, Alex Goldstein,
Molly Levine and Alyssa Royston
MOVE Editors
