The Tigers three-point shooting led the way in the Tiger victory
Missouri men’s basketball hosted Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 14 for its third-straight home game. The Tigers took an early lead and ran with it to the final buzzer, winning 111-39.
Missouri started off the game with Anthony Robinson II, Tamar Bates, Annor Boateng, Mark Mitchell and Josh Gray on the court. From there, the Tigers brought in Trent Pierce, Marques Warrick, Caleb Grill and Marcus Allen as early substitutions in the first five minutes of the game.
Missouri’s three-point shooting was on display as early as the first field goal scored by the Tigers was a Bates three-pointer. From there, Missouri went 15-for-31 from outside the paint, Warrick led the team on the night with four three-point shots made.
From Bates’ first three, Missouri scored from all areas of the court in abundance, taking a 32-point lead into the half. The Tigers would go 50% from inside and outside the paint and make 63% of free throws on the half.
The second half got started with a Bates bucket inside the paint. From there, Missouri would not let off the gas, hitting triple digits after a Crews layup increased the score to 100-35 with 4:52 left in the second half. The Tigers would go on to score 60 points on the half, leading the Delta Devils by 72.
“It’s great seeing everybody get to eat like that,” Crews said. “You cheer them on and, you know, everybody wants the best for everyone here…everybody is just happy for everyone.”
This is the first time the Tigers have scored triple digits since Nov. 6 of last year when they beat Arkansas – Pine Bluff 101-79 at home. Missouri has an eight-day break and then plays its next game against Pacific on Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at home.
