1. Golf cart valued at more than $3,000 missing
MU Police Department is investigating the weekend theft of a university-owned golf cart outside Memorial Union.
MUPD Capt. Scott Richardson said the golf cart belongs to the Office of Disability Services. It was last seen Oct. 12 and was reported missing Monday morning.
“It was last seen parked on the east loading dock of North Memorial Union,” Richardson said.
The cart was valued at $3,039, and no one has been arrested.
2. Car accident involving MU freshman may have been caused by alcohol
An MU freshman was arrested after a car accident early Monday on Stadium Boulevard.
“The officer didn’t witness the accident, but it had just occurred,” MUPD Capt. Scott Richardson said. “The drivers were standing outside their vehicles.”
The accident occurred at 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and College Avenue. Richardson said one driver complained of a sore wrist, but refused medical attention on the scene.
Freshman Alicia Kemp, 19, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, colliding with another motor vehicle and failure to display insurance.
3. One arrested in money dispute
Columbia Police Department officers responded to a call about a robbery at 8:28 p.m. Monday near the 2400 block of Whitegate Drive.
A female victim said Ramona Pendleton, 43, took money out of her hands by force and left her apartment, according to a CPD police report.
The police arrested Pendleton the next day at 7:18 p.m. on charges of second-degree robbery. Pendleton was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, which was added to her charges.
4. CPD officers break up school fight over girl
Columbia Police Department officers were called to respond to a disturbance at Hickman High School on Tuesday. Demetrie Smith, 17, and Darrius Robinson, 19, got into a fist fight at 12:30 during the lunch period and were arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, according to a CPD police report.
CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said the fight was about a girl.
5. Man arrested on charges of cocaine possession
Officers arrested a 22-year-old male on charges of drug possession Tuesday evening. Officers responded to a call about a shooting at 6 p.m. near the intersection of Austin and Garth Avenue and were given a description of the suspect. Police checked Eric Nelson because he was wearing clothing that fit the description of the shooter, according to a Columbia Police Department police report.
The officers found a bag full of white chalky substance that they believed to be crack cocaine in his pants pocket. Nelson was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substances.
6. Police arrest minor on charges of alcohol possession
Police arrested a minor on charges of alcohol possession early Wednesday morning. The officers were dispatched to a peace disturbance report at 2:55 a.m. near 220 10th Street, according to a Columbia Police Department police report.
While there they saw Andrew Echele, 20, walking up a stairwell to an apartment. Echele told the police that he had consumed alcohol earlier that night. He was arrested on charges of purchase or possession of alcohol by minors.
