If ever there were ever a band built for the big stage, it would be Muse. Honestly, it’s nearly impossible to describe this band any other way. Everything about the band evokes a sense of wonder, from its career closing in on 20 years together to its use of orchestral instruments to create a sort of symphony rock. Even the band’s name alludes to the ancient Greek poets and their sense of inspiration. Muse’s latest addition to its discography, _The 2nd Law_, isn’t any different. If anything, _The 2nd Law_ is grander than any of its predecessors. Beginning with “Supremacy” and ending with the two-part “The 2nd Law,” Muse blasts its way through 13 tracks of pure delight. Matthew Bellamy powerfully wails away while the booming percussion, roaring guitars and furious symphony match him every step of the way. Oh, and let us not forget the creative use of electronica and sampling that goes into multiple tracks. Maybe there isn’t enough focus on the lyrical content, and perhaps the album’s range isn’t the greatest. But even those statements could be categorized as “nit-picky.” After all, if it wasn’t epic, it wouldn’t be very much like Muse, would it?
