_Things to keep in mind:_
**The attire:** (see diagram) A soaking wet person isn’t usually a happy person. And chances are if you’re soaking wet, you’re probably going to be pretty cold as well.
**The bags:** Throw some plastic bags (the kind from Walmart or Target) in your backpack to keep important books and electronics dry.
**The tunes:** Your playlist can make or break a rainy day. Some suggestions: “England” by The National, “The Stable Song” by Gregory Alan Isakov, actually anything by Gregory Alan Isakov, “Sailboat” by Ben Rector, “Lonesome Dreams” by Lord Huron, and “Hudson” and “Hannah Hunt” by Vampire Weekend.
**The activities:** Now that it’s raining, here’s your chance to do all the fun and relaxing indoor things you’ve been putting off. Drink something hot, read a book, watch some Netflix, bake some pumpkin bread and take a nap — just don’t forget to go to class.
_On him:_
**Sweater:** If it’s raining, it’s probably also cold. Bundle up in a sweater or other knit.
**Umbrella:** Yes, it’s a pain to carry around when not in use, but an umbrella is essential if you want anything other than your person to stay dry (aka your backpack).
**Bright colors:** Take the damper off the bland and drab weather by wearing a bright shirt or, if you’re daring, bright pants.
**Earbuds:** Trade your over-the-head headphones for earbuds today. Your technology will thank you.
_On her:_
**Raincoat:** Rain jackets are the easiest and most compact way to stay relatively dry. It’s better than lugging that umbrella around, but unfortunately, leaves the backpack unprotected.
**Rain boots:** These puppies are one of the only options if you want your feet to stay completely dry, especially since large puddles are common on campus.
**Hot drink:** Hot cocoa, tea, coffee: Whatever you choose, a hot drink is a necessity when the cold rain drops start fallin’.
