The Missouri soccer team must have been tired of hearing about their scoring woes when they walked into Lexington, Kentucky, to play the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday night.

Coming into the game, the Tigers had only scored eight goals in nine games and had not scored a goal in 204 straight minutes.

The drought ended early with sophomore midfielder Savannah Trujillo turning around a defender inside the 18-yard box. She then ripped a shot from just outside the 6-yard box past the Wildcat goalkeeper to put the Tigers up 1-0 in the 13th minute.

Just seconds later, junior Jessica Johnson capitalized on a Kentucky miscue to tap in an easy goal, putting Missouri up 2-0 in the 14th minute.

The Tigers continued to pile it on in the 31st minute. Senior Reagan Russell hit a cutting through ball between the Kentucky defenders that wound up at the feet of junior forward Jessica Hermann. Hermann took one touch and slotted her shot into the back of the net, putting Missouri up 3-0.

Kentucky struck back just before the end of the first half to bring the score to 3-1. Sophomore midfielder Katy Keen smashed a free kick past Tiger goalkeeper Kristen Rivers into the bottom left corner of the net.

The second half was the complete opposite of the first. Despite a combined 15 shots on goal, neither team could capitalize and the game finished 3-1.

Missouri will return to the field Sunday to take on the Bulldogs of Mississippi State.

Mississippi State comes into the game with a record of 3-5-1. Missouri enters the match with a record of 4-3-3.

The game will be played at 1 p.m. in Starkville, Mississippi. The game will air on SEC Network+.
