First, it was a 4-yard fade pass to the corner of the south end zone.

Then, it was a 6-yard slant pass for a second touchdown. A few minutes later, there was a 9-yard screen that turned into a third score.

Finally, it was another fade route to the sideline of the north end zone, and just like that, J’Mon Moore tied the Missouri record for touchdowns in a game. There were still seven minutes left in the second quarter.

Moore accounted for four of Missouri’s 11 touchdowns in its 79-0 rout of Delaware State. The performance tied Dorial Green-Beckham’s single-game record of four receiving touchdowns in a game.

The possibility of a record-breaking performance did not occur to Moore while he was in the game. All that mattered to the junior wide receiver was getting the ball in the end zone as much as he could.

“I wasn’t worried about it,” Moore said. “I was just happy that [offensive coordinator Josh Heupel] gave me those plays and I made the opportunity.”

The performance came one week after Moore’s late-game fumble that effectively sealed the game for Georgia.

“I was really kind of beating myself up a lot after that loss,” Moore said. “I just had to put it behind me and move forward. That was pretty hard.”

The performance would not have been possible without another stellar performance from quarterback Drew Lock. The sophomore threw for 402 yards and five touchdowns, tying a single game school record in touchdown passes.

“Guys are doing a tremendous job for me,” Lock said. “Our offensive line is obviously playing their butt off; our wide receivers are making plays when we get it in their hands. That’s big for us.”

Of Lock’s 36 pass attempts, 10 were in Moore’s direction. Moore hauled in eight of the passes for 116 yards. After taking a 58-point lead to the locker room at halftime, neither Lock nor Moore played in the second half.

The team travels to Baton Rouge next weekend for a game against No. 18 Louisiana State.

“We’ll regroup,” head coach Barry Odom said. “We’ll get to work here in a couple hours on our next opponent, which is obviously a really good team.”
