Missouri women’s golf competed in Las Vegas at UNLV’s 2017 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown from Oct. 22-24, where the Tigers finished in third place overall with a team total of 5-under.
Sophomores Jessica Yuen and Cherise Otter, juniors Emma Allen and Marit Harryvan and senior Clara Young were Missouri’s starters for the tournament.
Allen led the team through all three rounds of the tournament. She finished tied for second overall for the second consecutive tournament, posting a score 6-under through 54 holes. On Sunday, she tied the 18-hole individual program record with a score of 65 and followed it up Monday when she posted a 2-under 70.
Yuen and Young also had strong performances in Las Vegas. Yuen earned a sixth-place finish overall, closing out the tournament at 4-under par. Last year at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Yuen finished tied for 10th place, and like this year, posted under par. Young finished tied for 11th after a strong start in the first round, where she posted 4-under.
The tournament also marked Otter’s first career start for Missouri women’s golf. She finished tied for 43rd after posting a score of 7-over.
Harryvan finished in 85th place overall with a total of 235 and posting 19-over.
The Tigers carried momentum into the tournament from their first-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational earlier this month. Competing against 16 other teams, Missouri finished the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown with a total shot count of 859, just behind San Jose State’s total of 857. Host UNLV finished at 847 total shots to take the victory.
Missouri will compete in its final tournament of the fall season at the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU Oct. 30-31 in Dallas.
