Missouri women’s golf won its sixth-straight title at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Wednesday. The Tigers had home field advantage at the tournament, which was played at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia. The team was able to get out to an early lead and maintain first place for all three days of the invitational.

Junior Noelle Beijer had the best performance for the Tigers. She remained tied for first place until the final day of the invitational.

Beijer started the tournament with three birdies in the first round to shoot a 69, 3-under par.

“Great start today for Noelle,” coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said in a press release. “And keep in mind, while it technically is her home course, being new to us this summer, she really doesn’t have that much experience here, so for her to come out in her first competitive round the way she did, that was good to see, especially with the wind making it tough with some of the pin positions out there.”

The highlight of Beijer’s second round came on hole 10, where she was inches away from an albatross. Her shot from the fairway put her close enough to the hole to tap in an eagle.

Beijer shot 71 in both of her last two rounds. She finished the tournament with a score of 211 which helped her earn No. 3 individually.

“It feels amazing. I was going for the win, but this shows that I’m competitive and I can be here and potentially even win a tournament in the upcoming two years,” Beijer said in a press release. “I’m just going to grind as hard as I can and be the best player I can be.”

Senior Cherise Otter finished right behind Beijer, tying for No. 4.

Otter started the tournament with her best round of the season. A pair of birdies helped her in finishing with a 71, 1-under par. She then bested that score in the next round, shooting a 69. Otter was tied with Beijer and sophomore Sarah Bell from Oral Roberts University for first place at the end of round two.

“I hit a good drive on the first hole, and stuck my second shot to about 10 feet,” Otter said in a press release. “On the second hole, I just put it on the back bit of the green where the pin was, probably 12 feet away there, so being that precise early really helps.”

Otter shot 1-over par in her final round and finished the tournament with a score of 213. It was the best three-day score of her career.

“My overall energy and vibe I had for all three rounds was good. It’s my last go-round so I want to make the best out of every moment I get,” Otter said.

Freshman Bri Bolden also achieved the lowest three-day score of her career. She had three birdies on the first day of the tournament and two on the second. Bolden finished the tournament 6-over par with a score of 218. She tied for No. 13.

Freshman Sophia Yoemans finished the tournament with a score of 224. She shot an even par in round three to take her from No. 27 to No. 18 individually.

Sophomore Julia Bower had her best career finish and best tournament score since last year’s Johnie Imes Tournament. Bower shot a 227 and finished No. 35.

Rounding out the Tigers lineup was sophomore Keegan Dunn who played the tournament as an individual. She finished the tournament with a birdie and an eagle in her final three holes. Dunn scored a 235.

Next up, Missouri will head to San Marcos, Texas for the Jim West Challenge which will take place on Oct. 20 to 21.
