Anderson helped lead the Tigers to their first super regional appearance since 2021
Missouri Softball Head Coach Larissa Anderson has extended her contract through 2028, Director of Athletics Laird Veatch announced on Friday, Aug. 30.
“We are extremely pleased to extend Larissa Anderson’s contract as the leader of our softball program,” Veatch said in a recent press release from Missouri Athletics.
Going into her seventh season as head coach for Mizzou Softball, Anderson has accumulated a 217-115 record with five NCAA Regional and two Super Regional appearances.
“I am thrilled to accept this contract extension through 2028,” Anderson said in the release. “I am deeply grateful to President Choi, Athletics Director Laird Veatch and Deputy AD Marcy Girton for the continued belief and support in our program.”
Anderson recently led the Tigers to a top ten finish, a NCAA Super Regional appearance and their second SEC Conference Championship appearance in the last three seasons. The Tigers finished with 48 wins last season, the highest total since joining the SEC and the fourth best record in program history.
Excluding the shortened COVID season in 2020, the Tigers have won 35 or more games for each of the years under her leadership.
“Leading Mizzou Softball has been a honor, and the love I have for what we’ve accomplished here is immeasurable,” Anderson said. “The dedication of our players and the unwavering support from their families have been crucial to our success…I take immense pride in our players, the culture we are fostering, and the exceptional environment we’ve built in our stadium.”
Missouri ranked fourth nationally in average attendance at the Mizzou Softball Stadium this past season. At the Columbia Super Regionals opener, the Tigers broke attendance records with 3,806 fans.
“This commitment reflects my deep belief in the direction of our program and the incredible potential of our players,” Anderson said. “Together, we’re building something special, and I’m excited to continue this journey with our team.”
The Tigers are in the middle of fall camp and have yet to release their schedule for the season.
