The Maneater has recently written about the hire of a new Title IX administrator, changes to Title IX policies and a new student training program. But what does Title IX actually mean and how does it affect students?

Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational program receiving federal funding. Initially known for its impact on athletic programs, it’s been used recently to examine colleges’ responsibilities in handling accusations of sexual assault, harassment and discrimination.
